If you are looking for a general easy system to get involved with I would also look at Fate Core, and especially FAE (Fate Accelerated Edition) as it has a low entry point being $25 for the Fate Core book and only $5 for FAE. Neither system is inherently difficult what makes it difficult is the optional rules and once groups start to patch and house rule the game to fit their ideal gaming experience.īoth of the systems that you are looking at though have beginner kits, I think that pathfinder wins in regards to what they give you to be able to play the game going forward, where as I believe that the D&D5e starter set is a little better for the regards as not to overwhelm the consumer. Let them know that you haven't played before and they will help you learn the system. r/boardgames - Boardgames that isn't TTRPGsĪs a person coming into the hobby, I would actually encourage you not to choose a system but to find a group that is running the game near you to join.Hide "Table Troubles"-threads Related Subreddits Hide promo)-threads - (Crowdfunding, Free, Product, Self Promotion) You can discuss these Weekly Free Chat-thread.ĪMA Guide tips if you want to hold an AMA Filters Off-Topic: Book trade, Boardgames, wargames, video games are generally off-topic.Comments deemed abusive may be removed by moderators.
